Math song reflection
Monday, March 19th, 2012 at D.01.105. My class, Mathematics education 2011 met again with My English Lecturer, Mr.Marsigit. At the moment, He gave us a different way to love Mathematics. He showed his collection of Math Song in front of my class. Then he told us,”How to employ VTR,to learn English for Mathematics Education by making the reflection.” I thought he always have a unique way to make us love mathematics more and more ^^  *two thumbs for him* b(^.^)d

First, he showed  a video of two man sing math song in area of university. The title of the song is “What you know about Math.” The lyric of the song were :

The second video told about how to find the perimeter of planes. This video also gave some example so we could more understands. From this video we could know that to find the perimeter is just add the measure of each side. The title was “Perimeter” and its lyric were :

“With perimeter you have to measure each side, each side add them up and we find perimeter perimeter that’s perimeter perimeter perimeter that’s perimeter”

Perimeter : 10+10+2+2=24 cm

Perimeter :  20+20+16=56 m

Perimeter : 3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3=30 mm

Perimeter : 20+17+25+8=70 cm

Perimeter : 10+10+7+7=34 m

Perimeter : 12+9+15=36 km

Perimeter = 8+8+15+15=46 km

Perimeter : 13+15+27+13=60 mm

Perimeter : 4 x 4 + 8 x 1 = 24 cm

The third video was “That’s Mathematics”. The video told about activity of  Mathematics in our daily life. Its lyric were :

The fourth video was “Math song (Lazy song Bruno Mars)”. The video told about a girl who want to study for her examination. Then she and her friends song a math song from Bruno Mars.  Its lyric were :

Today I don’t feel like doing anything
I just wanna focus on math

It all makes me go insane

Try to figure out how to represent relations

The last video was “Mean-Median-Mode”. This video told about how to find mean, median and mode from data set. The video also gave example in its video clip
To find Mean :
A={1,8,6,4,6}
The first step is add up the numbers in the data sheet.
1+8+6+4+6=25
Then, divide the total by the number of items. Number of items in here is 5.
25/5=5
So, the average is 5.
To find Median :
The first step to find the median is arrange the numbers in order, from the lowest to the highest values.
A={1,8,6,4,6}
1,4,6,6,8
Because of total the numbers of set is odd so the median is the middle number.
It is 6.
If the total numbers of sets is even number the median is the average of two middle numbers.
B={1,6,4,6}
1,4,6,6
(4+6)/2=5
To find mode :
The mode is the number that repeats most often.
A={1,8,6,4,6}
The mode is 6 because it repeat twice and the other numbers just appear only once.
There is no mode if you find no number that repeats most often.

Then, Its lyric were :

How do you find the mean?
Add up the numbers in the data she.
